Villa Crespi introduction

Villa Crespi is a superb hotel and restaurant located in the lakeside village of Orta San Giulio, in the heart of Piedmont, and just a few kilometers away from Malpensa.

The Villa was built in 1879 by the wealthy cotton merchant, Cristoforo Benigno Crespi, who, during his extensive travels in the middle east, became totally enamoured by the city of Bagdad and, on his return to Italy, decided to construct his own Moorish residence, complete with extravagant minaret, on the land overlooking lake Orta where he had spent most of his childhood.
Half a century of so later, Villa Crespi was sold to the Marquis Fracassi of Torre Rossano who entertained members of Italian and European high society in the villa's sumptuous halls.

In the late 1980's, the villa's current owner Raffaele Esposito, transformed the property in exclusive 4-stars hotel. The hotel has luxuriously appointed bedrooms and suites all furnished with exquisite antiques, drapes and upholstery in rich silks and damasks, and sumptuous marble bathrooms. A small fitness room, sauna, hammam and the services of professional masseurs are available to guests staying at the Villa.

Villa Crespi boasts a world class restaurant, awarded 2 Michelin stars and numerous other gastronomic accolades. The restaurant, run by the talented Chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo and his wife Cinzia, serves fabulous Mediterranean cuisine prepared using only the very finest Italian ingredients, from the prized meat of Piedmont to southern Italian buffalo mozzarella, from San Remo shrimps to Sicilian red mullets, from Alba truffles to Annurca apples.
Villa Crespi has 2 cellars, one for red wines and the other for white wines and champagnes which collectively house over 1000 labels from the best Italian and international wine producers.
