Relais San Maurizio is situated in countryside overlooking Santo Stefano Belbo, in the heart of the Langhe. The hotel occupies a fascinating building which dates back to the 17th century when it was built as monastery for Franciscan monks. The subject of an extensive restoration project, the former monastery has been successfully transformed in spectacular hotel, offering the highest standards of comfort and service and fabulous panoramic views of the Muscatel and Dolcetto vineyards.

Relais San Maurizio has individually decorated rooms and suites, obtained from the monks' cells and the ancient stables. All of the hotel's public rooms, including the café and the frescoed breakfast room, look onto the flower filled internal garden. A small church is an integral part of the Relais San Maurizio. Its pictorial decorations, subjected to careful restoration, date from the late 17th century.

The cellars of the monastery, once used for wine making and aging of the bottles, have been expertly restored and converted in restaurant of great charm. "Guido's"' restaurant, run by Andrea Alciati and his mother, Lidia, offers both traditional Piedmontese cuisine and contemporary dishes inspired by the magnificent products of the area, such as truffles from Alba, and the finest cuts of Piedmont beef. The well-researched wine list offers guests the opportunity to taste some of the finest regional and national wines, with labels from both well established and emerging wine producers.

Created by Caudalie of Bordeaux, France, the new Vinothérapie Spa in the Relais San Maurizio is an innovative wellness center offering an extensive range of face and body treatments. The swimming pool is fitted with hydrojets and hydromassage.

The Relais San Maurizio offers the ideal location for corporate meetings and presentations. The modular congress hall, which has a seating capacity for up to 100 people, is lit by sources of natural light and equipped with the latest in meeting room technology.

The Relais San Maurizio is at Santo Stefano Belbo, in the heart of the Langhe's area, less than two hours by car from the airports of Milan, Genoa and Turi'. Drive through the hills of Monferrato to S. Stefano Belbo, birthplace of the well-known Italian writer Cesare Pavese. From here, follow a panoramic road for 3 km in the direction of Valdivilla and Mango, arriving at the complex of the old monastery. For those arriving from Alba (about 25 km), the signs to follow are for Neive, Coazzolo and Valdivilla.
